My Life Changed

My name is Jurn Njui kamami. I am 34yrs and I am married to Fraciah muthoni. Our marriage is blessed with two children Christin Wangari Njui, 3 years of age, and Justin kamami Njui, 1 year. I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I live in central Kenya, Thika.
I came to know the Richardson family when they were very new in the country. I met them when I was on my daily routine as their cab driver. Immediately I knew there were something different about them, and the interns with them, because unlike other white people, who always seemed uncomfortable with the locals, Dave's team was very friendly. I couldn't help but to notice that they paid extra attention to underprivileged, homeless and beggars. They would pay for my services without much bargaining or complaint, which is the order of the day with the majority of my customers. Something else, they always asked about my family.
One day, Dave invited me for lunch and I got to know that they were Christians, born of the Spirit of God, and this answered many questions in me and explained their warmth and kindness. Sharing the same faith we became even closer when my family was invited in to the Richardson's home to mark the American Thanksgiving day. I saw clearly their passion for Christ as they worshiped with instruments for hours. I knew for sure these are the people I always wanted to be with.
Soon after, I was informed the internship to disciple the interns would kick off, and I was enrolled for free. I realized how selfish I was and that my altitude towards helping others was wrong.
these are the people I always wanted to be with

I have always wanted to do something about the suffering and shame of the poor in this town, but I thought I needed to be very rich to share whatever I had. When Dave and Katie took in homeless Rose and her five kids into their home and took a little boy named Sundy off the streets and put him in school, this changed my view towards helping others. I saw and knew the sacrifices they took to accommodate them as we continued to interact and relate with each other. I came to know that they were not rich in material things yet they would withhold nothing to meet a need of someone else.
Their faith and hunger to obey and follow Christ's teaching touched my life. I saw just how many resources I had, and yet I used them on myself and my family only. I've now made a deliberate choice to obey God. I took responsibility to continue paying school fees and providing the up keep for a poor slum boy named James. I found joy and fulfillment in helping others.
From the internship classes, my discipline as a believer and attitude has changed in coping with different cultures and respect for all. I have even seen a change in me from good parenting to becoming a better husband to my wife.
I am living by faith and giving hope to the hopeless. I am still a disciple and I'm still an intern in the his heart my voice internship. I am trusting God will release me to minister to others, even away from my home.
One thing I have come to witness by giving others is that God has opened doors for me. Financially, I am better off than I was before as I started sharing with others.
God bless the HHMV fraternity.
